29th MAGIC MARINE EASTER REGATTA22/04/2014
Over 210 competitors from 11 nationalities raced Optimists in the Magic Marine Easter Regatta. Block your calendars for the Easter weekend of 2015 (April 5, 6 and 7th) because it has again been a great success. The winners have been decided after two days of qualifiers and seven more races in gold, silver and bronze fleet. The top had not decided until the very last race resulting in a podium of sailors from Belgium, Norway and the Netherlands.
Shifty wind resulting in shake-up of results
The first finals day on Sunday shakes the leaderboard for many of the top sailors. Choosing the wrong side of the course will cost you big time and it’s proving the Braassemermeer is a challenging lake once again. The lake is for sure shifty which creates a great learning experience for the kids.
No clean sweep
Last year it was an all-Dutch podium with Stijn Paardekooper on top. For a while it looks like he can hold on to his title, but it is the ‘southern neighbour ‘as the Dutch call it, Lennert Steelandt from Belgium who takes the win, followed by Uffe Thomasgaard from Norway.
Next year will be the 30th edition of this International event!!
