Whether seen racing Round the World, winning 5 World Titles, rounding Cape Horn 7 times or dominating one design races; Bouwe Bekking is a hero known around the World.
Magic Marine and Bouwe have joined together to develop technical gear for racing the World's Oceans. Magic Marine is excited to include Ocean Racing gear in the future and use the knowledge of this cooperation for all our products.

"Since my first Volvo Round The World Race new technologies have been developed and integrated in the Volvo boats and one result has been that designers could create super fast sailing boats which reach speeds up to 70 km an hour and can travel distances of nearly 600 miles in 24 hours. The downside for us sailors is that the term fire hose sailing has become a common word on the boats," commented Bouwe on ocean sailing.

"My goal is to help Magic Marine develop the best offshore gear for a Volvo Ocean Race crew member," said Bouwe. "It is refreshing to see that Magic Marine has the drive and the knowledge to fill my high demands. One thing I know for sure, if I am well protected on the ocean, the same will be the case for you."

The 25 boat gold fleet sailed two races on the final day in 16-23 knots amidst tropical showers in the Bahamas. Iker & Xavier had competed well all week and then won the final medal race as the breeze dropped to a shifty 8-10 knots to secure the World Championship.

Iker & Xavier have a long history together; winning a Gold in the Athens Olympics and a Silver medal in Beijing.

The two finished the grueling Volvo Ocean Race a mere 6 months ago alongside the new Magic Marine teammate Bouwe Bekking with the Telefonica Program.

"This win means a lot. Not every day you win a world title. We had spent the last 12 years sailing together and after the titles won in 2002 and 2004 we had to wait until 2010 to repeat, so this is huge," commented Iker on the win.

Stevie Morrison and Ben Rhodes of Great Britain were in the hunt for the podium but fell to 7th in the end with four other podium British teams side by side. After the exclusion of the catamaran and switching to a new discipline, teamrider Pim Nieuwenhuis and Ferdinand Van West of Team Zwitserleven sailed well finishing 9th in silver fleet.
