A record breaking entry list with 135 offshore yachts are competed for the World Championship in a long, varying week of weather conditions in Helsinki. Magic Marine partnered with the event in order to show the brands’ recent developments to the big boat sailing market as well as to establish more visibility in the Nordic region. This event is a good mix of sailors as it brings together the pure racing machines, the optimized handicapped racing boats as well as the weekend warriors all onto the same playing field.
Together with One Sailing, the Finnish Magic Marine distributor, the brand has just been recently presented to Finland and the partnership is growing traction. “The ORCi Worlds is a fantastic opportunity for Magic Marine to be a part of, as the largest offshore race in the World, this event is a perfect fit as it has the same ambition to grow in these difficult economic times,” said Max Blom Sr., president and CEO of MBrands International. The Magic Marine 2012 Collection was exclusively presented at an onsite shop and is as well the clothing supplier for the event.
Team VanVuuren sailed on "Lenco" to a Silver medal on equal points for Gold. The team fought hard to win the World Championship title battling the entire week with the top three of the ORC 2 Class. The Dutch team, sailing a SALONA 37, has an optimized boat and team and is positive with their results. The team finished 2nd in the preparation event, the Baltic Offshore Week, won the Offshore Races and finished overall with a Silver with a consistent score line. “With varying and difficult conditions the team performed fantastic and deserved Gold . . . maybe next year,” said tactician Mischa Heemskerk.
